Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, 5th January 2021, appreciated the sincere role of his excellency Emir of Kuwait and cooperation of GCC states in resolving the broken ties of Saudi Arabia and Qatar when the two countries reopened their borders.
Pakistan FO also assured that Islamabad binds greater importance in its bilateral relations with GCC and all the member states.
According to the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, following the reopening of the land border, Saudi is going to open its air and sea borders too. The United States and Kuwait endeavored to end the clash when Saudi, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Bahrain severed their diplomatic, travel, and trade ties with the government of Qatar in mid-2017. The government of Qatar has neglected allegations posed and declared that no legitimate justification was there for severance of the bilateral relations.
Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, who is Pakistan Prime Minister Aide in Religious Harmony and Middle Eastern Affairs said, the Ameer of Kuwait and Crown Prince, Salman bin Salman have built up strength in Islamic Ummah and the Arab world for going through the reconciliatory process to dictate the bilateral issues, he said this to in his speech to media on Tuesday.
Ashrafi also said that the functional role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is very important and thee need of the hour. Therefore, to end the interference of foreign forces in the Islamic world and dictate the issues of Kashmir and Palestine, Ashrafi said, Islamic world needs reconciliation and unity.
He further stated that Pakistan wants a stable and united Islamic World, while addressing all issues and concerns through dialogues and other amicable means. To decipher important issues of the Islamic world, Ashrafi said, consultation and coordination are needed between Prime Minister Imran Khan, Ameer of Kuwait, and Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz. An informal forum has already been created between Arab countries and Pakistan to enhance bilateral relationships between brotherly countries.
Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) needs to become more functional and efficient in resolving the issues related to the Islamic World. Therefore, it ought to come out of a symbolic role and take practical steps in the issues of Kashmir, Palestine, Middle Eastern conflicts, and Afghanistan.
