A meeting was held where top rank officials of Pakistan and Qatar were present and traded different views and perspectives over the hot topic of the peace process in Afghanistan. The high-rank military commanders from both sides attended the meeting.
The main purpose is to support the struggle and attempts to bring peace in Afghanistan along with the strengthening economic, political, and security ties.
Details of the dialogue
In the dialogue, the participants agreed on the mutual security partnership and cooperation. The commander of Qatari land forces Major General Saeed Mohammed Al-Khayareen and the army chief of Pakistan, General Qamar Bajwa supported the cooperation of both states.
By the end of February, the delegate of Qatari foreign minister Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al-Qahtani came to Pakistan and also met the army chief.
ISPR Statement
As told by the ISPR in a statement,
“The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Army’s sincere efforts for regional peace.”
Since the initiative had been taken to start peace talks, there has been a tremendous increase in violent activities. So, the concentration of the two states will be mainly on the mutual efforts for enhancing peace and stability in Afghanistan.
