A recent tweet from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, featured a video by the World Economic Forum. The theme of the video was the sustainable policies that Pakistan has adopted.
Specifically, the video mentioned how Pakistan aims to shift to renewable sources of energy by the year 2030. Additionally, Pakistan also aims to introduce hydro-electric projects instead of its coal projects.
Moreover, the video also highlighted how Pakistan has managed to create more than 85,000 jobs from plant care to the protection of forests.
The video
The video by The World Economic Forum featured policies, which included “The Green Recovery Program” and “The Climate Action Plan”. Furthermore, it also mentioned that Pakistan has invested nearly $180 million in building green spaces.
Additionally, the Green Recovery Program includes policies that will enable Pakistan to relieve some of its debts by attempting to renegotiate the economy’s debt burden by facilitating research and innovation in sustainable development. The video also praised Pakistan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant spike in unemployment. These policies are targeted to link the economy with Pakistan’s environmental development goals.
