The cricket boards of Pakistan and Afghanistan are having discussions over the white-ball series. According to sources, Afghanistan will host Pakistan for a series of three ODIs. This will also include T20Is in UAE in August/September. It will take place after Pakistan’s cricket team returns from its tour in the West Indies.
PM Imran Khan has Promised a Series – Muhammad Nabi
In February this year, an Afghanistan cricket player Muhammad Nabi revealed that he had a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan and stated that Imran Khan had promised a cricket series between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the coming days.
Sports Journalist Saj Sadiq broke the news through his Twitter account. Sadiq tweeted Nabi’s opinion about his meeting with PM Khan. He also informed that Nabi was very excited about this initiative.
Moreover, according to Saj Sadiq, Nabi said, “Meeting Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was exciting. We had lunch & had a photoshoot with him”. Nabi further stated that; “We asked him to give Afghanistan a series with Pakistan and he has promised that. The meeting well and we discussed some cricket things with him”.
Pakistan Cricket Team will Play Against 2 Countries Before White-Ball Series
Before playing the white-ball series against Afghanistan, Pakistan’s cricket team will play the series against the West Indies from July 21 to August 24. Pakistan and the West Indies will compete in Two Tests and Five T20I series.
Additionally, the tour will take place after an upcoming series against England. The series consists of back-to-back T20 Internationals and ODIs.
Lastly, the CEO of PCB Waseem khan said that keeping in mind the upcoming ICC World T20 cup, both countries agreed to play two T20Is instead of one Test match.
