The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has announced the result of the Allama Iqbal Scholarship, 2020-2021. The result is uploaded on the official HEC website and can be checked after entering the Taskira or Ticket number.
The Phase II of the fully funded scholarship for the year 2020-2021, has received more than 22000 student applications. From the total of 22000 applicants, 900 students have received scholarships for the undergraduate programs and 150 students have received scholarships for the Master’s programs. Additionally, 100 PhD program aspirants have received HEC scholarships to study in Pakistan’s most prestigious universities.
The Pakistani government offered the HEC scholarships to Afghan students last year. These 3000 Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships were offered in various fields of; Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, and Management and Computer science, etc. In order to process the selection, the HEC of Pakistan conducted entry and pre-qualification exams. These tests took place in the Kabul Embassy as well as in the Pakistan Consulates General in Herat, Qandahar, Jalalabad and Manzar-e-sharif.
HEC Scholarship and its Aims
The HEC scholarship program aims to not only help deserving Afghan students but also to strengthen Pak-Afghan bilateral relations. Moreover, it will help to enhance the people-to-people contact between both neighbouring states. The HEC Scholarship Program will be covering living allowance, book allowance, hostel dues and university tuition fees.
5000 Afghan Students Benefit from Pak-Afghan Scholarships
The Pak-Afghan Scholarship program officially began in 2009. Muhammad Umer Daudzai, Afghanistan’s special envoy for Pakistan said that such scholarships would have a positive impact on bilateral relations and the lives of Afghan students. He further added that so far 5000 Afghans have benefitted from these scholarship programs and are currently serving their country.
Moreover, Daudzai added that this initiative would have a great impact on the lives of the people of Afghanistan because a large number of these scholarships were in medicine and engineering. These fields are very important for any developing country. Lastly, he said that the HEC scholarships have also made it easier for Afghan students to travel back to their homes when needed.
