A high level delegation headed by President Ashraf Ghani visited western province Herat today morning. Journalists boycotted coverage of the trip to protest the sidelining of media, and the perceived insult to free speech.
The president, at an event in the western city, named Herat International Airport after Khwaja Abdullah Ansari.
A statement released by Presidential palace said the president has visited the Herat province to analyze overall situation of the government in province.
Additionally, sources said that the President Ghani planned on separately meeting with different people from Military and civil officials, ulema, women, youth and members of provincial council, businessmen and civil society activists.
