On the second day of his three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi revealed that Pakistan’s assistance contributed to the US-Taliban peace accord. FM Qureshi expressed his optimism that Afghan parties would work constructively to accomplish the shared goal. A shared goal for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan.
Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to the Afghan Peace Process, asking for a negotiated conclusion. During a telephonic conversation the US secretary of State Blinken, FM Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Afghan peace efforts.

Furthermore, Qureshi said. “All Afghan parties, as well as important foreign and regional partners, shared responsibilities for achieving a peaceful political solution in Afghanistan.” He emphasized the significance of a responsible withdrawal of the US and NATO forces from Afghanistan.
Moreover, Reduced violence, a permanent truce, and obtaining an inclusive, broad-based, and comprehensive political resolution were all essential, according to Qureshi.
It was the two ambassadors’ second phone discussion since Blinken entered office in January. Their first call took place on Jan 29.
Secretary Blinken acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions in the fight against terrorism. He noted that the two countries have a long history of collaboration. FM Qureshi and Blinken agreed to stay in touch and collaborate to advance the bilateral agenda and promote regional mutual interests.
Blinken also spoke with Army Chief of Staff Gen Qamar Bajwa twice. Their discussions mostly revolved around Afghanistan and the US troop withdrawal from the country.
