Special Operation Police Forces dedicated to countering Narcotics have been conducting raids throughout the country. The Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) lit about 500 Kgs of hashish on fire during an operation in the Mohammad Agha district of Logar province. Details on whether or not any suspects were in custody have not been revealed so far. The CNPA also seized 8000 Kgs of drugs in Dara-e-Ghoran of Khoshi district on Sunday, and these were also destroyed by burning.
The illegal narcotics industry in Afghanistan is linked to many of the problems and instability the country faces. This zero-tolerance policy against possession or smuggling of drugs, and the effective raids, are important for Afghanistan’s future.
